Word Watching at the Zoo: Letter Recognition

New readers learn their alphabet with pictures of animals, as well as beginning readers learn to distinguish capital letters from lowercase letters. Each animal is labeled with its name. One full sentence is offered per animal to demonstrate capitalization of sentences' first words. Two exercises with pictures are included: one to reinforce identifying a word's beginning letter, and a second exercise to reinforce differing between uppercase and lowercase letters. Suggested directions for teachers and parents to use with students precede reading sections and exercises. Use this book before and/or after a field trip to the zoo to garner the most interest.
