    About

On July 30, 1976, fresh off the intoxicating pride of their Bicentennial celebration, Americans sit before their color televisions and watch as their own Bruce Jenner defeats the communist machine in the most prestigious of all Olympic events. Bruce jogs his victory lap, arms raised in triumph, cloaked in red, white, and blue, while commentators search for the right words to describe a man's dream fulfilled. 80,000 people in Montreal's Olympic Stadium stand in non-stop cheer for fifteen minutes, absorbed in the moment. The world stops and nothing else matters. Of the billions of people on the planet, there is one man who will forever own these fifteen minutes. Bruce Jenner.

Rich Ochoa, a twelve-year-old boy in Lindale, Texas is among those who watch in awe at the coronation of "The World's Great Athlete." Having already been declared by President Richard Nixon of possessing "a sound mind in a strong body," Rich decides that he will train to become the next great American Decathlete and will not only equal but will break all of his hero's records. Rich sets out the next day building a homemade decathlon training facility in the pasture of his family farm and targets the 1988 Olympics for his moment of glory. Follow Rich on his decade-long journey of delusion and denial as he refuses to give up on his dream of becoming THE NEXT BRUCE JENNER.
