Trouble is afoot in the world of Minaturia: holy war in the East, revolution brewing in the old states of Middlita and rumours of war in the West.
Kolan, a ginger-haired warrior for hire, with his new companion, a magpie called Malcolm, struggle to make a living joining any party of adventurers that will take them.
Malcolm dreams of returning home to his own world, where everything and everyone was much larger. No one believes his stories of a world of giants with no magic. Kolan wishes he would get a big break : he is tired of being the last warrior chosen in every situation. Little does he know that he is about to be propelled into an epic adventure with Malcolm, uncovering the rise of an ancient menace and changing their lives forever!
Q - Why write a story with a magpie as a major character?
A - I think that magpies are misunderstood birds - they are amongst the most intelligent animals and seem to have had a bad reputation mainly due to superstition.
Q - Your book deals with religious themes - are you anti-religion?
A - Not at all; I think that religion has, in general, had a positive impact on the world. The element of religion I make fun of is the small differences that grow into huge rifts within the same fundamental religion.
Q - How many books do you intend to write in this series.
A - I expect to write five books in this series. Hoping to start work on the next book by the end of July this year to have it ready sometime in the late summer.
Q - Were any magpies harmed in making of this book?
A - No magpies were harmed in the making of this book - they even had their own trailer! We won’t mention the gnome in the formatting department though…
