The Plot
In a fishing village in Palestine in the Roman year 781 AUC (our 28 AD), four free-spirited 12 year olds are well known for causing havoc – and getting away with it.
Tahlia and her three untamed friends make ridiculous plans that never come off, often disrupting the town and their own families.
Stealing, disturbing the peace, tempting disaster, getting even with the baker, upsetting Tahlia's mother and her pompous uncle, even befriending the town's crazy person, are only a few of their escapades. Their antics are daring and often silly, and although they lived a long a time long ago, they show that being alive then was as funny and rich as it can be today.
When they hear about a stranger who makes miracles happen to sick people – just by his voice – they decide to tag along after him, only to be disappointed time after time because they can never track him down.
Then Tahlia gets sick ...
The Author
Inducted into the Australian Speakers Hall of Fame in 2007, Colin Pearce has spent thirty years giving funny speeches at business conventions and teacher conferences in places as diverse as Beirut and Brisbane, Sydney and Singapore, Istanbul and Indiana, Lagos and Los Angeles, Vienna and Vietnam.
He has been telling stories and making up fun things for children a lot longer than that. A veteran of over 1000 children's TV shows, he has written stories and poems and even a CD of sing-along songs called Billabong Songs.
Colin has also written six business books and many business training programs and has qualifications in theology and teaching and an MA in creative writing, but he likes people to know him simply as a story teller.
Of all the testimonials he has received, his favourite was written by a third grader in Sydney after one of Colin's story telling visits. She wrote, 'My little brother thought you were well worth the $2 ticket'.
