Don’t Call Them Bennys tracks the good and bad fortunes of a group of individuals recruited to work on a major construction project on the Falkland Islands shortly after the 1982 ‘conflict’ has ended.
Having started out as complete strangers from all walks of life (mainly the colourful side), the mixed bag of characters come together to form an unlikely band of likeable rogues, petty crooks, natural comedians, and part time alcoholics.
Having survived ferocious South Atlantic storms the author subsequently has to contend with marauding bull elephant seals, poo propelling penguins, an escaped convict, an arsonist, uncharted minefields, a meeting with H.R.H Prince Andrew and Patch, the dog who never was.
The friendships and camaraderie forged during the arduous voyage across the South Atlantic Ocean sets the scene for a series of hilarious and sometimes tragic alcohol fueled adventures as the new found friends blunder, blag, stumble, sing, joke and laugh their way into Falkland's history and ultimately out of a job .
