People read books to immerse themselves comfortably in conflict and resolution, scene and sequel. They read to live the life of someone struggling against somebody for something. Give your readers well-written conflict, as part of the plot and as filler, and you will have them turning page after page.
This study looks at screenplay conflict - how to watch for it, how to steal it, and how to retool it for your book, play, or movie script. It includes ideas and scriptcerpts to help you explore opening conflict, recurring sustainable filler/plot conflict, attitude conflict, general conflict, and a unique approach to cranking up your imagination by casting character traits according to animal characteristics.
But this book goes beyond lists. If you write action or romance or any other genre, conflict can only be understood through an exploration of love that shows itself giving itself for others or by hurting them. In one chapter, we will ask three main questions all people and characters must ask about people they associate with. From these questions come a world of conflict limited only by our inability to see or imagine. This study also explores the offices of love and how those offices work in conflict and how they deteriorate when they are corrupted.
When it comes to conflict, it all boils to down to the love of self. (And there's more to self-love than you can ever imagine!)
