Young Mowgli is snatched by a tiger and taken into the jungle as a baby. Rudyard Kipling (18650-1936) was born in India and moved to England as a child with his foster parents. He returned to India at 17 and worked in Lahore newspaper and also wrote poems and stories. He was a tremendous success and eventually returned to London and lived in America after marrying. In 1907, he became the first English writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize.
