Based on a series of articles written for the now archived feature column WRITING BESTSELLERS at suite 101.com, this book is a retrospective, and an honest look into what makes a book a bestseller, the state of the publishing world, the writing life, and one writer's journey toward personal satisfaction as a published author.
Deborah Cannon's featured articles were inspired by her own experience as a struggling writer while she was writing a series of archaeology thrillers called The Raven Chronicles. She also wrote several science fiction/fantasy short stories, which inspired some of her thoughts on writing popular fiction. Re-published in the anthologies WOLFBIRD and TALES OF THE RAVEN (Clocktower Books 2012), these stories set the foundation for her "Raven" novels about half-Haida archaeologist Jake Lalonde, who is the descendent of a 10,000-year-old Native American shaman. The Raven Chronicles include THE RAVEN'S POOL, WHITE RAVEN, RAVENSTONE and RAVEN'S BLOOD.
