WITS’ END

It is hot. Selma is at her WITS' END. She does not know if she can finish one more night shift on Bentley psychiatric ward. The second story features Alma Mae, a widow, trying to save her home. "Her arthritic fingers trembled as she read the registered letter from the tax department advising her "because of past due property taxes" her home would be put up for sale unless she paid the twelve-hundred dollar tax bill by next Monday."
