    About

Rob Cooper, self-confessed football fanatic and editor of the United FC fanzine, Wings Of A Sparrow, returns from watching his team succumb to yet another defeat to discover that not only has he inherited an estate worth in excess of six million pounds, but that it has been left to him by an uncle he never knew he had.

However, even as Rob is struggling to come to terms with these two bombshells, he is hit with another. For the estate contains ownership of an almost bankrupt professional football club. And the terms of the will are such that Rob will only receive his inheritance if he takes over the running of the club and manages to keep them going for the coming season. The problem is, the club concerned are the local and very bitter rivals of the club Rob and his family have passionately supported all their lives.

But after wrestling with his conscience, and driven by his wife’s desire for instant wealth, he accepts the challenge with a promise to the United faithful that he will do whatever he can to ensure that whilst his new club might survive, its supporters are about to experience the most depressing season in their history!

And so, in the full glare of the media spotlight, he sets out to do what most football fans could only ever dream about; humiliate their local rivals.

The trouble is, it just doesn’t work out like that!

    About the Author

After 18 years service with the Royal Air Force, including both the Falklands War and the first Gulf War, the ex-Sergeant engineer’s literary career began in 1996 when he wrote a book based on his own experiences as a football casual entitled, Everywhere We Go. The book examined the culture of football and football hooliganism from the inside and became an instant smash. A further 13 books have followed and their success has established him as not only one of the UK's most prolific authors but a leading authority on the issue of lad culture.

Whilst his novels The Crew and Top Dog have topped the soccer download charts on both Amazon and iTunes for over 12 months, Brimson is becoming increasingly known for his comedy writing and has tackled various subjects ranging from men and romance to males and their love affair with flatulence! The latter being the subject matter of his most recent book, The Art of Fart which was released in December 2011 and was his first eBook exclusive.

A supporter of Watford FC, Dougie is widely acknowledged as one of soccer's most vocal anti-violence and anti-racism campaigners and has acted as an advisor to both the British government's working group into football disorder and the European Commission's football group. He is currently in discussion with the Russian Football Federation regarding the possibility of an anti-racism initiative ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

His no-nonsense, common sense commentary on the state of Britain and British politics has won Dougie many supporters and he has made no secret of the fact that he would like to run for political office at some point on a single-issue 'Football Party' ticket. He has also written extensively for various magazines, newspapers and websites including The Sun, The Times, The New York Times, The Guardian, Loaded magazine, FourFourTwo magazine, Football 365, Moan About Men and Total Football.

In 2003 Dougie made the move into screenwriting first with the critically acclaimed short movie It's a Casual Life and then with his first full length feature, the Hollywood funded Green Street starring Elijah Wood.
