The Osa Peninsula is in the south-west Costa Rica. The Osa Peninsula is often called Corcovado which refers to the national park "Parque Nacional Corcovado" that covers much of the pensinsula. The wildlife here is amazing with birds, mammals, butterflies, insects and lizards found in large numbers in the rainforest. The large size of the forest (and good protection from hunting) means there are healthy populations of larger mammals such as Tapir and Jaguar. Although animals such as Jaguar are rarely seen it is possible and the author saw one on his research visit by using good tracking skills and being in the forest in the right places at the right times: he shares advice on this, and similar topics, in the guide.
