I think the easiest way to set up a website is to go to weebly. I think they’re as simple as it gets to create a pretty good website, all free. You can buy a website name called a domain and superimpose it over the free name you get from them. Other big free ones are wordpress, blogspot and typepad. There are books on website design at #000 to #005 at the library. If you want to learn the hard way, read this book then study html code.
I tried wix.com but they seem to have limits on space usage and stuff like that.
Even though the following information was written for business websites, it can apply to any type of website.
If you're starting, you can get free website hosting service, do a free blog on a blog website or do a website on myspace.com or facebook.com.
This book pretty well has it all about creating a website going from the lazy novice who simply has facebook page or uses weebly to the person who wants to start from scratch using html, xml, java and all that stuff.
There are a lot of video alternatives besides youtube which I talk about in this book but youtube has the free online courses for anyone who wants to start a youtube channel, create videos, edit them and polish them for public consumption. It’s all there to get started then if you can make professional style videos and find a way to market them, you can move on to film festivals, film distribution companies, etc. which I talk about in my movie-making job book.
Blog Info/ How to Blog
It's not not quantity, it's quality.
Blogs are websites or webpages where people keep daily diaries about their lives or offer advice about some subject. Some of them are a part of a bigger website. Some of them are the entire website, just the blog.
Some are useful such as with a doctor's, chef's or journalist's blog but many are social and frivolous.
A lot of people like blogs because whatever is on there is current and personal. It was written within the past few days. It's the most cutting edge knowledge available on the topic.
Some people do it because they are advertising themselves indirectly, looking for a mate or looking to get more marketshare for their products or services.
Some people blog for ego or self-respect which is measured by the number of e-mails they get. If you get a worthy amount, you can start making money by either putting ads on from google if they'll take you or just start affiliate marketing on the blog on your own.
The biggest reason people blog say they blog is that they want to help people, impact their lives and make friends.
Learn the Basics of Video-Making
You can't just pick up a camcorder and start recording. There's lighting, audio and perspective that have to be learned if you want a quality video that people can watch without feeling like they're watching an amateur piece of crap.
At the library, the photography books go from #770 to #779 then the movie books go from #791 to #793 but the technical books on how to shoot video which is called " Digital Video" are at #778.59.
There are books at #006.7 at the library that tell you how to shoot video then upload it to either a website like youtube or to your own website.
You have to learn how to shoot video properly so it captures the light and sound just right then you have to learn how to edit video on a computer.
The last computer I bought came with three separate movie-making software programs. Pick one and learn it.
There are "Standalone Systems" which are computers that do one thing only, edit videos. They don't send emails or do anything else.
I'm warning you, don't be a knucklehead and think you just point and shoot. A couple of guys wanted to get into porn. They pointed and shot then took the video to a porn producer who told them it was poor quality video that he couldn't sell because they didn't set up lights or use a light meter. They had to pay those people to have sex on film. They were too stupi
