Waiting on a Bridge of Maggots

A man who is basically good and who has led a life of solid, middle-class respectability is forced to confront inner demons when he awakens one morning to news of his family’s death in a plane crash on the Chaco Canyon mesa. The plane was piloted by the only survivor, his neighbor. His moral dissipation follows in alcoholic binges, random sexual liaisons, and chaos in every aspect of his personal life. Seeking the spot where the plane went down, he is accompanied by a guide, who intends to kill him in the desert. To save his life, he kills the guide and disposes of the body in a ravine. The family of the dead man wants revenge and hold him captive in a trailer while they scheme to get what’s left of his money.
