It is debatable whether the eastern voyage of Vasco da Gama was more difficult than the journey Christopher Columbus made to the West Indies approximately six years earlier. Columbus had sailed west in contrast to the trek made by the Portuguese sailor beginning in 1497. Both men sought a passage to India albeit by sailing in opposite directions. My e-book looks at da Gama's voyage around the Cape of Good Hope and on to India. I hope readers will enjoy some of the awe that the Portuguese sailors must have experienced on their mysterious and dangerous voyages to India.
