Gay and bisexual men are 3-4 times more likely to have substance abuse problems than the heterosexual population. Part of the solution is to create a culture of heroes and icons that we can look up to, respect and admire. And this need not be mired in the light of HIV and AIDS. We must love and admire these men for what they accomplished and not how they died. So, the book is a way for straight and gay people to look up to and learn about all these great gay and bisexual men who helped to create modern civilization as we know it.
