Travel Impressions
Join me on my bird-like travel through several beautiful countries and enjoy the atmosphere.
Our journey starts in the southern part of Germany, the Black Forest, were I grew up.
A region in which I lived till I was 15 and my parents decided to move to a more action filled Southern continent.
But before we get there I want you to immerge into impressions of the Portuguese landscape.
This country is important to me because I was born in Lisbon due to the fact that my family lived there for seven years. So what kind of nationality do I have?
Our next station will be Venezuela in South America. This country was to be my home for five years till I got my school degree. Afterwards I returned to Germany whereas my parents are still living there in their 9th year. They live in the capital, Caracas, with 7 million people, to be exact. The first two words that come to my mind thinking about that country are beauty and danger.
On the one hand you have the Caribbean Sea, the Table Mountains and the tropical jungle and on the other hand you have the armed robber who likes nothing more than to mug you. To give you an idea only 5% of the crimes are solved but what can you expect if the leading politician calls for anarchy?
Nevertheless the countryside is as beautiful as their praised and operated beauty queens.
I am going to show you the maze of the hot tropical Venezuelan jungle and its remote location.
Why remote? Well we had to drive with an off-road vehicle for two days on dirt roads through the countryside, then we sailed for eight hours on a shady boat in rivers replete with piranhas and caimans. Not the best place to crash on a rock.
But I guess no risk no fun. After all where else can you catch piranhas’?
Our journey continued on foot for five hours through the jungle only armed with a machete.
At the end of our jungle trip, we were somewhere in the middle of nowhere and near a beautiful, refreshing waterfall.
The last impressions are about a very old South American native tribe, the Incas, with their roots in Peru and their breathtaking city above the clouds. I hiked on their paths to the peak but due to the fact that there were hardly any safety precautions it turned into a risky climbing tour. I should mention that I had fear of heights. Well, this experience pretty much cured me.
That would be my trip so far. But the journey of life goes on.
