Needed changes for care and rehabilitation for patients with acquired brain injuries, specifically hypoxic-anoxic injuries: based on over 6000 hours of observation of a mother who worked with her daughter during her valiant fight to recover from her anoxic brain injury.
I am not a doctor or other medical professional. I am a mother who watched her daughter’s valiant fight to recover from a sudden medically unexplained hypoxic-anoxic brain injury in a broken health care system that is not designed to offer recovery to patients with vulnerable health conditions.
These suggested changes for the care and rehabilitation of patients with acquired brain injuries (specifically hypoxic-anoxic) are based on over 6000 hours in 16 months at Brenna’s side.
This nation can and must do better in the ways we treat patients with vulnerable health conditions.
