Do you remember being a child, the imagination you had, and the questions you asked?
“The Whyz Guy” is a read aloud book of short poems with colorful illustrations. Reading this book to your children will be equally as much for you as it is for them.
This book is great for kids between 1st and 4th grade.
Parents, if you love the sound of your child’s laughter and to see them smile, then “The Whyz Guy” is for you!
The “Birth of The Whyz Guy”
Following Hurricane Sandy, and being without power for 11 days, I had many hours to fill while waiting for the electricity and heat to come back on. I stumbled on a copy of “Where the Sidewalk Ends” and read it cover-to-cover.
It brought me back to being five years old, intrigued by the words and mesmerized by the drawings. I then thought of all the questions I asked my mom and dad about the poems and illustrations, as well as the many questions asked about everything at that age.
I grabbed a spiral notebook and began to write, with no plan or intention for what I would be doing with these rhymes, other than wanting to hear my wife laugh. She did, and “The Whyz Guy” was born!
The Whyz Guy is meant to be read aloud. It’s not intended for just children’s entertainment, but for the readers as well!
Enjoy!

INTRODUCTION
Who is “The Whyz Guy” and why is he here?
Maybe this intro can make that all clear.
This little boy is like so many others,
Have endless questions for their fathers and mothers.
There may be times you don’t know what to say,
When outrageous questions are coming your way.
This is a collection of things that kids ask,
Providing the answers is their parent’s task.
You respond to the questions, or at least you try,
But, over and over again kids ask why?
For all of you parents who know this is true,
Let me introduce “the Whyz Guy” to you.
WHY IS WHYZ SPELLED WRONG?
How did “The Whyz Guy” ever get that name?
It’s spelled incorrectly, so who should we blame?
You can take that nickname up with his dad,
Who gave it for all of the questions he had.
As far as the spelling, well that’s more complex.
When a child asks “why”, what’s your first reflex?
How do you answer and how are their needs met?
Children are curious which adults can forget.
Some questions can prove that your child is quite wise,
With others you shake your head closing your eyes.
A wise guy is smart by being well read,
A “Whyz Guy” is smart by using his head!
By asking the questions to things they don’t know,
They’ll increase their wisdom and help their brain grow.
