The Trabant was not the only car from Communist East Germany. The Wartburg was also made there and was a more upmarket, bigger car than its two stroke cousin, the Trabant. Wartburg cars were better funded, better finished and also exported to Western Europe and also to the U.S.A and other parts of the world. The Wartburg was used also by Government employees, Police, state services etc. Wartburg are best known for their 311 and 353 models and their sturdy, if antiquated separate chassis.
