The text is simple and repetitive which allows the students to participate in the reading of the book. Besides being very entertaining, it is a good book to use for story elements and self connection with young children. The setting is well defined and the problem is obvious. The strikingly different ways the characters face the problem makes for a good compare and contrast activity. My students quickly made the connection with their own experiences at home and younger siblings, and were eager to share their stories. The students were actively engaged during the reading.
