The Reunion. Sure, it's one of those adventure thriller type books but, the question you’ll find yourself asking is - could any of this really be true?
It's Yorkshire - It's 2010 - And it's looking like rain.
A deserted car park in northern England - It's dark - It's cold - It's miserable - A solitary figure glances up and down the road, then checks his watch.... again.
This is one of those mysterious action adventure stories - But, to paraphrase Pulp Fiction's Vincent Vega, this one's just that little bit different.
Sometimes life throws out the odd bone - And this gang snatched out for it, with both hands.
The story begins decades ago during the final, and incredibly brutal days of World War II. This short, but action packed, introduction lasts just for a chapter. It’s a bit of a scene setter from times long gone. However, it’s one which could change not only the lives, but also the very being, for one particular group of men.
It’s now 2010, and the war’s been over for decades. And, as everyone knows what you're really supposed to do, during any mid-life crisis worth having, is go out and buy yourself a shiny, new and very fast motorcycle.
This seems to be the acceptable solution for middle aged men the world over, but the trouble is these guys have already been through that fast motorcycle stage.
So, that can’t be the quick fix for a sudden bout of middle age boredom. And besides, it's not only boredom, it's the growing fear that they really are past their best.
Each of these men finally has to admit their adventures seem to have come to a grinding halt. Surely now’s the time for a pipe, slippers and reading glasses…
Or is it? Maybe one quick phone call.....
