The Prince and the Pauper (Illustrated)

When Tom Shanty is born into the squalor and poverty of 16th century London he longs for a better life. To escape his violent father and poor family he plays with friends in the street at being royalty. When Tom wanders to close to the palace he is accosted by a guard but rescued by young Prince Edward who invites him inside. The two boys notice a close resemblance and decide to temporarily switch outfits. But when things go suddenly wrong Prince Edwards finds himself stranded in the streets, eyes opened abruptly to the cruelty and degradation that is the life of the poor; while Tom struggles to fit in, trapped abruptly in a world totally foreign to him. This book is illustrated in color and black and white illustrations by several artists.
