The Prayer of Supplication is powerful and effective prayer. Knowing how to pray the prayer of supplication is in fact essential in our Christian life. It is a kind of prayer that was constantly encouraged by Jesus, and one that expects and receives tremendous answers and breakthrough.
In this short and clear study, we will consider what the Bible teaches concerning supplication, and how to apply these wonderful truths in our own lives.
Zechariah 12:10 speaks of a spirit of grace and supplication.
““And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.” (Zechariah 12:10 NKJV)
This grace, and this wonderful Spirit, is something we all need. As believers we have been given open access to our Father, who does not deny us, but actively seeks our requests. We are told, no, commanded by God, to ask! This, my friend, is the glory of His generosity. It yearns to bless, longs to answer, lives to plant and to grant our desires.
Supplication, in its simplest and broadest definition is simply this - Asking the Father, expecting the answer!
Don’t be tricked into thinking though that simple subjects like this have little to teach us. Quite the opposite, it is the fundamentals, the simplest and easiest to understand teachings, that we need to return to again and again. We need to be reminded of the simplicity and uncomplicated wonder of the gospel, and the intimate privileges we enjoy as sons and daughters of God.
Let childlike faith and unshakeable confidence burst forth in your understanding and in your spirit as we look together at this beautiful reality.
