Age Level: 9 and up | Grade Level: 4th and up
Calypso Blue doesn’t think she’s ever paddled a canoe ahead of the gaping jaws of a shark. She can’t remember ever spying around beach umbrellas with a periscope, eating cicadas dipped in chocolate, or being chased by crimson tigers.
Honestly, Calypso can’t remember anything before she woke up (too early) this morning on a tropical island with the Blues, a bossy married couple and their five pesky children. They say Calypso is theirs, and promptly order her to dig a latrine. Calypso knows they're lying.
But when the Blues find an old filmstrip projector with a message, Calypso learns she chose to come to the Island. Treasure may be her ultimate goal, but she’ll also discover latent scientific skills, a love of red papaya juice, and where she really belongs… if she can only make it out alive.
