When she’s not at school Nina likes to help out at the bookshop owned by her Aunty and Uncle.
But when Uncle Bill finds a hidden room behind a dusty bookshelf in a forgotten corner of the shop Nina knows she simply must investigate. With the help of her best friend, Ivy, and a bespectacled boy named Oswald she unlocks the door and they step into the mysterious room.
The children find themselves transported to a tent backstage at Cornelius’ Circus Spectacular. All is not well in the big top and Nina, Ivy and Oswald are soon caught up in a mystery the likes of which they had never dreamed… The mystery of the missing monkey.
With the big finale looming the children must investigate the circus performers, from Wallace the Lion to Sadie the bearded lady and from the monkey crew to Doctor Dick the duck. And if they can’t find the missing monkey?
Well they’ll have to perform in the finale themselves of course!
Who is to blame for the disappearance of the monkey? Will the children learn the ways of the circus in time to perform in the finale and even if they do how will they get back to the Lost Bookshop again?

Q - So, what makes the Lost Bookshop series special?
A - Probably that each adventure is so completely and utterly different. When I started working on the books I wanted to write a middle grade book series where the children would be able to go anywhere and do anything, I didn’t want to be limited to one type of story or setting like a lot of chapter books for kids are. I wanted it to be the the kind of book series that I would have wanted to read (and keep going back to as a grown up).
It’s just a group of friends drawn into impossible adventures with mysteries, magic and excitement bursting out of every page. There are some great detective and mystery stories for kids out there and I hope this book stands shoulder to shoulder with them but in the following stories the children find themselves as targets of a witch with a glitch, circus detectives… the possibilities are endless.
Q - What order should I read the books in?
A - I deliberately wrote the books so they can be read in any order and, because all the adventures are different, you can be certain you won’t miss anything if you read them out of sequence but if you want a proper answer I would say:

A - From every second hand book shop I ever visited and every book I ever bought there!

A - Well, my own daughter (the real Nina) was reading a lot of books. Some of them were great, some of them… not so much. In fact, some of the books aimed at girls are just the same boring princess and fairy stories rehashed again and again and I wanted to write something that was the opposite
