During the dark days of World War Two, an act of heroism that occurs at the time of the Normandy landings haunt a man throughout his life. For more than three decades, the medal awarded for his gallantry lies forgotten and ignored until one night, an intruder breaks into the man’s home and steals a number of items that include the small, velvet covered box containing the award. In the aftermath of the housebreaking, a young police officer endeavours to identify the thief and recover the stolen property, unaware that his inquiries will impact on a number of people throughout Glasgow and not least, the reluctant hero.
