Inspired by The Little Prince, this largely autobiographical tale is more a tribute than a sequel to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's immortal work. In many ways, it is the yin version of the original story. Whereas The Little Prince talks about planets, desert, a yellow snake, and silver laughter, The Little Princess indulges in moons, lakes, a monarch butterfly, and all kinds of smile. The story touches on a multitude of themes, including despair and hope, change and permanence, and loss of faith and regain of purpose. It speaks about the magical power of word and how a little book can transform one's life. But ultimately – at least for those readers who understand – this little fairy tale is about the cosmological truth held by the starry skies.
