When Alexander Cavendish joins the crew of the pirate ship 'The Kestrel', he anticipates glorious adventures on the waves and many victories ahead. However, once at sea he finds his new life doesn't quite turn out as he expected; complications arise with friends and comrades as petty rivalries rear their heads and piracy becomes harder work than he imagined.
