Daisy Thurbin's second book in the Clare Montgomery series finds the discreet private investigator trying to untangle a most peculiar conundrum. Her client is concerned lest the heretofore unknown recipient of a sizeable gift from his recently deceased relative may have been obtained by coercion. When Clare learns the circumstances surrounding the mysterious beneficiary, she must decide whether she should reveal to her client all that she knows, or if she should hold back some information that might cause distress to other parties. As always, Thurbin gives her readers a meticulously well crafted story and an array of interesting well drawn characters.
