Obrey longed for a family. He lived at Habra Hall Orphanage and was simply called Number 27. After finding friends he thought would accept him as family a caring act to save a lost rabbit lead him to realize they were not only not family material but were not friend material as well. In his numbness he decides to visit the out of place house at the top of the hill that he passed so many times. Why was it each time he would visit the old woman who lived at the house would put a plant in the front window? Why were the circles she drew in the sand so important? What happened that left him shocked and speechless? Here is a hint: He was not the only one who lived at Habra Hall. This book shows that there may be something just around the corner that could bring wonderful things the person could never imagine possible.
