In this cookbook, “The Emergency Chef: Preparing Convenient Meals in Inconvenient Times”, you will find not only recipes using what I call basic foods, (dried beans, rice, pasta, canned fruit and vegetables), but also much more important information to help you prepare for those inconvenient times.
Included in this book are:
•Recipes for Appetizers, Beverages, Soups, Breads using pantry items
•Recipes for Entrees: Bean Entrees, Rice or Pasta Entrees, Chicken Entrees, Canned Foods Entrees
•Recipes for Vegetables and Side Dishes
•Getting to the Basics: The “Why” for using Beans, Rice, Breads, Soups, Canned Foods, and Convenience Foods
•“Pantry Items to Have on Hand At All Times to Cook “The Emergency Chef” recipes--complete list in categories to cook the recipes in the e-book
•Breakfast Foods and Lunch Foods suggestions
•“Emergency Items to Have on Hand for Convenience”—to prepare in advance for times when you might
experience extended power outages or other inconveniences
•“Two Week Menus for Inconvenient Times”—using foods stored in your pantry and recipes in the e-book
•“Emergency Food Items to Have On Hand At All Times”
The recipes use either canned chicken or are vegetarian. Most are one-pot meals that can be prepared on the stove or on your grill (if you are cooking without power.) This enables you to prepare meals from your pantry, if you need to. All are tasty, filling, and easy to prepare. And, all are designed to help you get prepared, and be able to cook, in the event you find yourself in an “inconvenient time”.
What it NOT included in these recipes are frozen foods or fresh meat. This is because the purpose of this cookbook is to help you cook when these items are not available. You can, of course, substitute fresh meat for what is canned, and fresh or frozen vegetables for those that are canned, if you wish.
This is a great resource to help you in preparing for emergencies by having your pantry stocked with usable foods, an alternate cooking station, and easy recipes to make to feed your family at any time, but especially in inconvenient times.
