Tupac Shakur was a very complex, and even at times contradictorily artist. In this essay the author examines the documentary “Tupac: Resurrection” in an attempt to paint a complete picture of the various dimensions of Tupac’s music and his personality by examining all of the factors that shaped this talented, but also deeply flawed, individual. This essay not only examines the roots of Tupac’s demons, but it also looks at those demons within the larger historical context of the struggle of young black men to define themselves in a post-civil rights America.
