But, as stated, this guide is about the creative side of nature photography: While I tell you why and when you may want to change your camera's settings, I assume you know how to adjust them. I recommend that you read your camera’s manual and learn a few basics about photography before going out in the field, and at the end of this book I provide resources to get you started.
I wrote this book with the beginning nature photographer in mind, but an amateur nature photographer who needs a creative boost will find this book a great refresher. Even for myself, a semi-professional nature photographer, the thought and research that went into writing this book revived my own creative juices and renewed my artistic vision in the field. The book is organized in such a way that it could be used as a review prior to going on a photo shoot, or as a reference while in the field.
About the author: I have had a passion for nature since as long as I can remember. I turned that passion into a love of nature photography about 18 years ago. Nature photography is the key that opened the door to the natural world for me. In addition to photographing nature, I study it. Most of my photography is of the flora and fauna of my home state, Florida. My photography has been published in brochures and calendars by area environmental organizations, and I have written articles on various nature photography topics for magazines and newsletters. I've also taught workshops on “The Art of Nature Photography,” at local parks and preserves, and I am a certified Florida Master Naturalist. I really love sharing my passion for nature and photography with others, and I hope this book stirs your passion for nature and helps you realize your creative potential through nature photography!
