The Afternet Trilogy concludes with this epic description of the final showdown between Good, Evil, and Indifference. The entry to afterlife, to bliss and torment is under the control of a gigantic computer system, the Afternet, and those responsible for its smooth operation find themselves once more embroiled in ancient rivalries. For the billions stranded by the earlier breakdown of the system, and the billions more who walk the earth, the outcome could be the difference between a nice cup of tea and an unhealthy dose of hemlock. The final battle will, of course, not be the one anybody has expected, or undertaken in any way the ancients would have recognised, and its outcome would be in the lap of the Gods if it wasn't actually much more complicated than that. The countdown to Armageddon, a couple with dreams of their own caravan park, a battalion of Visigoths with that dangerous 'little knowledge', the guardians of the Afternet and the poor victims they plucked early from life; it's a recipe that only aspires to the heights of disaster. This is the end, and this is the battle to be in charge when it happens.
