When Silicon Valley was the Wild West
It was startup time. Everybody worked sixteen hour days and they were all going to be rich "real soon now." Companies were formed on an idea. Someone became President, another Chief Engineer and in came the venture capitalists. Once the first round of financing was raised, the marketing people climbed onboard, programmers were hired, stock options were handed out like raffle tickets and the cast of characters went to work.
- Eddie is a super programmer who's identified his three pillars of happiness; sex, drugs and Unix. His is the title story in this interconnected series of tales of the days when Silicon Valley was like a Wild West show.
- Annamaria might only be a marketing junior, but she's already acquired the sharp teeth of a mature shark.
- Harry Robertson is a venture capitalist with an appetite for Scotch who lurches his way to success.
- Bojo Johnson inadvertently hires the King of Severance and is present for the crowning of the new Queen.
Through it all marketing guy Dave Dante journeys like a migrant worker from company to company looking for the one big hit.
