Dennis Moore started writing his memoirs in 1990 after re-reading the 330 consecutively numbered letters sent home during his time in National Service between 1942 and 1947, which he discovered his mother had kept. Dennis never intended for his work to be published but instead used his writing as a therapy to help him to try to come to terms with the horrors of his experiences during the war in Burma which had haunted him throughout his life. Following his death on 23rd March 2014, the family have decided to publish this book in his memory and any proceeds raised from its sale will go to The Burma Star Association, a charity which was very dear to him.
