Resumen
El presente estudio explica el significado de los nombres de seis ciudades europeas, que hasta ahora se desconocía: Barcelona, Bordeaux, Berlin, Parma, Pragha y Paris. Las interpretaciones que se proponían eran mitológicas o fantasiosas, sin fundamento lingüístico. Una raíz lingüística prehistórica *brd, que significa ‘humedal’, explica fehacientemente la etimología de los nombres de estas seis ciudades.
Abstract
The following paper tries to explain the etymology, unknown so far, of six European cities: Barcelona, Bordeaux, Berlin, Parma, Pragha and Paris. The previous interpretations seemed have a mythological or fantastic origin and lacked linguistic grounds. The existence of a prehistoric linguistic root *brd, which means 'wetland', justifies, quite reliably, the etymology of the names of the mentioned six cities.

La présente étude explique la signification des noms des six villes européennes, qui était jusqu'à présent inconnue: Barcelone, Bordeaux, Berlin, Parme, Prague et Paris. Les interprétations proposées jusqu´à ce jour étaient d´ordre mythologiques ou fantaisistes et sans fondement linguistique. Une racine linguistique préhistorique *brd, qui signifie «marécage, explique de façon convaincante l'étymologie des noms de ces six villes.

Diese Arbeit untersucht die bislang unbekannte Bedeutung der Namen von sechs europäischen Städten: Barcelona, Bordeaux, Berlin, Parma, Prag und Paris. Die bisher vorgeschlagenen Interpretationen waren entweder mythologisch geprägt oder Phantasiekonstrukte, jedenfalls ohne linguistische Basis. Die prähistorische Wurzel *brd mit der Bedeutung 'Feuchtgebiet' erklärt die Etymologie dieser sechs Städtenamen überzeugend.

Il presente studio prende in esame il significato, fino ad ora sconosciuto, dei nomi di sei città europee: Barcellona, Bordeaux, Berlino, Parma, Praga e Parigi. Le interpretazioni proposte fino ad oggi erano di carattere mitologico o fantasioso e prive di fondamento linguistico. La radice preistorica *brd, che significa 'zona umida', spiega fondatamente l'etimologia di questi sei nomi di città.
