Gary Hutton's autobiography is the story of an East End bloke’s life and experiences. He shares his story of having a very tough upbringing in a large family and learning through his surroundings because that is all he saw and knew. Gary is a survivor and some of his experiences were not on the right side of the law, but to him it was the ‘norm’. This is a story of a young boy who was taught to steal by the person who should have been his role model and mentor. Being taught the wrong way led to Gary turning into a young man who went down the path of crime which in turn led to incarceration. While imprisoned Gary did what he does best and survived but struggled with what was happening on the outside world and in particular his family. He is now a man who does his best to help others in any way he can through mentoring and talking to troubled young people heading down the same path he found himself on in his younger years.
This story contains a whole bag of emotions which will touch every reader; sadness, anger, disgust, trust, surprise and amusement to name a few. Not many could say they have lived such a life, maybe little snippets, but for all this to be packed in to 46 years may be too much for some to take.
