Power networking is an “inside” and “outside” learning and growth process. With networking, we
often focus on the external actions such as updating our resume, creating a business card, and
practicing our “elevator pitch.” These accomplishments are indeed necessary to be a successful
networker. However, networking success can’t be achieved without the equally important “inside”
actions. In fact, we sometimes neglect the critical inside or internal actions such as understanding
and expanding our sense of self, placing a priority on ongoing self-assessment and personal
development, and seeing ourselves as contributors to the world.
