The first page deals with the sounds (s a t p) then each page deals with adding one sound at a time. Each page builds on the sounds from the previous pages so that by the end of the book children have covered 3 letter words that can be decoded.

This book also contains illustrations on each page to help with the sound being used.  Two syllable words are used in this book (sunset, laptop). Children should be asked to break these words into two sections to read, then blend the two together (sun/set, lap/top).
