I have a curious tale to tell you, if you'll lend me a moment of your time. A story of blood curdling horror, in parts, that'll send shivers down your spine, and will have you ladies reaching for your smelling salts. So come on then, don't just stand there, come closer. Huddle round. That's right my little dears, let me bend your ears for a time, you won't be disappointed.
My tale is set in another time. Another place even, far, far from here. Close your eyes and picture this, let my words create a new world within your imagination. On Terra-Discus the flicker of gaslight barely cuts through the thick, green smog of ancient industrial times long forgotten here. The clatter of Hackney cabs rumbling over cobbles mingles with the shrill whistles of steam locomotives running over tracks that produce haunting melodies. Women bustle along, clothed in long dresses of brocade and silk, elaborate bonnets upon their heads. And here, on this world, there are strange mechanical contraptions of steam, and gears, and cogs that will boggle your mind. Things never invented here on Earth, and beasts that were never moulded by our God's hands fascinate and shock. And you should hear about those dirigibulars, I mean, what's that word again? Oh yeah, dirigibles. Great big flying ships powered by gas and ... What's that you say? Dragons in this tale? No Sir, but there's a big old Kraken, and monsters, oh yes Sir, there be plenty of monsters, you mark my words. Yes, yes, sky ships too, and pirates and explosions, plenty of action, fighting, chases through dark alleys too.
Right where was I?
Well, there's gruesome stuff in my tale, but for you of faint heart, don't worry , my loves, there's a part to be played by a mousy young girl with a huge heart and she's nothing special really, a Mrs Nobody. But she steps up when fate comes a calling, onto the path of the hero's journey to fight the good fight against impossible odds. Ohhh, I nearly forgot. There's romance. Ahhh, who doesn't love a good old love story eh? For our little heroine wouldn't be complete without her hero. And if you're not hooked yet with wanting to know more, then what tale wouldn't be complete without a sinister plot to take over the world? But oh no, I ain't telling how it ends or you'd never want to hear my words, will you?
So, come on then, who's staying for this tale? It'll be worth it, just a dollar, a pocket of sweeties, money for a sandwich, it's all I ask. You never know, it might hold some truth in it, and you'd kick yourself if you missed the part about the great flood of London. No, no, your didn't mishear me, I said flood, not fire. Well that's how it happens in my story anyhow. So come, take a seat, get comfy, I'll begin this tale before it gets too late.
