Mystery in the Air was a summer-replacement series that ran on NBC radio in 1947. Starring Peter Lorre, the show emphasized suspense and a gradual building of terror. Episodes included the adaptations of several Poe short stories as well as other tales of murder and obsession. Essentially, the show was based on the premise that it was entertaining to hear Peter Lorre go insane each week.
