    About

Sheldon Utd had missed promotion for the second year running. Now thanks to Vernon Gibb's millions, they were heading for the big time. Gibb's dream is to get Sheldon into the premier league, but someone is determined he won't make it. The story unfolds when Gibbs is left orphaned as a teenager, and is brought up by his grandparents. He is left a legacy, and by the time he is in his twenties, he is already a millionaire. However his business dealings leave a bitter taste in the mouths of some of his rivals. His marriage to chemists daughter Kate Palmer is also a sham, and a string of affairs turns her to Max Dennison recently appointed by Gibbs to manage the team. Somehow Max has to divide his loyalty between Gibbs and his team, with his growing feelings for Kate. On a business trip to Paris to secure a deal for media company Viewropa Gibb's mistress is found dead floating in the river Seine. Is this a warning to Gibbs to pull out of the Viewropa deal? Things really come to a head, when on a team trip to Spain, it's suspected that one of the team's rising stars is not performing and could be on drugs. Soon it comes to light that other members of the team are suspected of drug abuse. But who is supplying them, and why? When Kate and her son Luke are kidnapped, Gibbs realizes that he has real enemies at large, but who are they? When the club physio is found dead, Gibbs hires retired cop Frank Blunden to see if he can unravel the mysterious events that are threatening him and his club. Amid an atmosphere of drugs kidnapping and murder, Max somehow has to try and steer the club to promotion, whilst keeping his feelings for Kate in check, and hold onto his job.
