My childhood dream was about to come true. I was about to meet Dr. Temple Grandin who was my all time hero in the field of autism. Growing up with autism I have always looked up to Dr. Temple Grandin. She is the most famous person living with autism in the world and helps animals. Temple designs livestock pins and has a doctorate in Animal Science. She has changed the autism world forever.

If it had not been for the help of Temple Grandin's books and the movie "Temple Grandin" I do not know how I could have ever made it through school. Temple was bullied like I was and she is a true rule model for young girls and women with autism.
My grandparents and parents bought me tickets to hear Temple speak. Mom and I flew to a conference in Texas in which she was speaking at. I was nervous about meeting her and prepared a speech to give to her when I met her. I knew what I wanted to tell her and it helped me to have a speech outlined and prepared. "The night before I left for Texas to go hear Temple Grandin speak I could not sleep. A couple days earlier I had written down what I would say to Temple if I were to get to speak with her face to face. I wanted to tell her how much I admired her and her work and I wanted her to know she is one of the main reasons that I chose to go into engineering and become an autism advocate.
I rehearsed my speech in front of my parents and they critiqued me on how I did. They told me to be careful that I was not actually giving a speech and worked with me to ensure that I was having a social conversation with Temple."
