Rev. Dr. James Thompson Sr. and Dea. Verlonda A. Thompson (affectionately known as Papa and Mamadear) exemplify living blessed lives. At the ages of 86 and 88 years old, respectively, Papa and Mamadear have witnessed wars, segregation, the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and other national and international phenomena. Despite the pressure of life, they continue to move forward in the ways of Yeshua, Jesus Christ. They did not let dropping out of high school to help provide for their families stop them from doing what they believed the Most High God called them to do. Mamadear went back to school to finish what she started; Papa also did what was necessary to receive his GED.
From being ministers and leaders to receiving awards and accolades, Mamadear and Papa’s accomplishments are impressive. The accomplishment that they are most proud of, however, is the beautiful family they have been blessed with: three natural children, Apostle Dr. James Thompson Jr., Vernada Williams, and Deborah Lee, two “Children-in-Love,” Apostle Dr. Emma Jean Thompson (Apostle Dr. James Thompson Jr.) and Byron Lee Sr. (Deborah Lee), five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
This labor of love began when their “Daughter-in-Love” Apostle Dr. Emma Jean Thompson, shared that Mamadear and Papa should write a book to share their wisdom and knowledge with the world. With joy, their natural family and their Integrity Church International family, came together to cause this book to come into fruition. Their granddaughter, Sherah Danielle, led the project under her mother, Apostle Dr. Emma Jean’s wisdom and prayer.
