Unlike my other books which include a little science behind my subjects, this book presents only the visual intrigue of fungi as they self present in the wilds. As I began shooting wildflowers I found that learning about flora was a natural outgrowth of those encounters. The same was true with insects and especially dragonflies for which I have an ardent passion.
But with mushrooms, for whatever reason, I never felt compelled to research their workings and function in nature. It was sufficient for me to enjoy their whimsical and sudden appearance in the forests. I allow them to enchant me minus the pleasure of learning about them.
So this book is light on instruction and high on visual intrigue among these natural curiosities known as mushrooms. As always, I use nothing more than a small pocket camera and my LBS Macro Lens which permits instant and easy access to every conceivable shooting angle.
My objective is to present to my readers the diversity and beauty in the mushroom kingdom and perhaps to inspire a passion to take up the hobby of hunting and photographing them.
