About
After the Capital Punishment Amendment Act of 1868 the grisly spectacle of public hangings at Kirkdale gaol in North Liverpool was no more. The gaol though remained in existence until 1892, during which period 29 killers were hanged. All of these killings, which included stabbings, poisonings, shootings and kickings, as well as the subsequent executions are described here.
