In the book I chronicle my life as a kid growing up in the housing projects of west Montgomery Alabama. A kid who was a member of his elementary school choir and captain of the school crossing guard. But being the product of a broken home I began to grow up faster than I should have had to, ultimately turning to the streets in desperate hopes of finding a peace of mind.
But in west Montgomery where violence, poverty, police brutality, and systematic racism rules everything. I find only tragedy.. My own and that of my friends and neighbors.
In the book I chronicle my arrest, trial, conviction, and my ultimately being sentenced to death for the murder of a police officer. Having spent nearly half of my life on Alabama's death row I bring the reader here to share in my maturation and in some of what I've seen and experienced living on death row.
In this time of deepening turmoil in America where political allegiances, mass incarceration, and rampant police brutality are at the forefront of a national dialogue. The Little Ghetto Boy is a unfiltered and blunt commentary for the times. It gives voice to the rising tide of frustration, anger, and desperation permeating the American inner city.
