Black Hawk (Ma-ka-tai-me-she-kia-kiak), was leader of the Sauk tribe. During the war of 1812, he fought on the side of the British forces against the United States. During the Black Hawk War of 1832, he led the Sauk and Fox tribes against settlers in the present day Midwest. This edition of his autobiography includes a table of contents.
