Mrs. Parker is a Certified Level I (instructor) and Certified Level II (teacher) through the Craft Yarn Council of America. She also a member of the Crochet Guild of America. She has been Crocheting for over 30 years, designing her own patterns for more than a decade, and teaching Crochet for several years. Here is what she says about Crochet:
I love to Crochet; it's an excellent hobby for keeping your hands busy while watching TV or having a conversation. Sometimes, I like to Crochet while I listen to an audiobook. What can I say, it's a multi-tasking world out there. For centuries, Crochet has been a part of our heritage, passed down from generation to generation. My concern is that in today's busy world, Crochet may become a dying art. This is why I would love to pass this love, this art, on to as many people as would like to learn.
This book contains the first twelve lessons of Mrs. Parker's blog "Learn to Crochet in Minutes a Day". These lessons include everything from what to buy and why to how to complete a Single Crochet stitch. Gauge, tension, and various other technique related items are also covered.
This book also contains six simple patterns with which to practice the techniques.
In addition, a second volume to this series, containing the next twelve lessons, is due out in early 2013.
For patterns, please see Mrs. Parker's series of pattern books known as "The Seven Series". The first volume of which "Seven Special Scarves" is currently available in the Kindle Store.
